Ghee Toast

Ghee Toast

Ingredients

  • 4 slices sandwich bread or milk bread

  • 3 tablespoons  Banaras Gold Ghee Pure Desi Cow A2 Ghee

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (chini)

  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder (elaichi, optional)

Methods

1. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan or tava over low-medium heat. Place the bread slices on the pan and toast the bottom side for 1–2 minutes until light golden and crisp.

2. Flip the bread slices over. Spread the remaining ghee evenly across the top warm side of each slice.

3. Generously sprinkle the sugar (and cardamom powder, if using) evenly over the ghee-coated top of each slice.

4. Flip the bread back over so the sugar side is directly touching the hot pan. Press down gently with a spatula for 1–2 minutes on low heat so the sugar melts, caramelizes, and forms a crispy, shiny glaze. Transfer to a plate sugar-side up and serve immediately!

For extra crunch:

  • Use coarse granulated sugar rather than powdered sugar so you get those delicious crunchy, caramelized sugar pockets!

  • Enjoy hot with a steaming cup of masala chai for the ultimate nostalgic childhood snack.
